The advisory committee consisting of Tamar Frank, Erik Fliek, Daniëlle van Ark, Lenneke van der Goot and as chairman Niek Hendrix has selected Alex Farrar as the recipient of the 2024 Graphics Award, sponsored by Grafiekprijs Pim Olivier, Hilversum. The award includes a residency at Grafisch Atelier Hilversum.
The advisory committee was impressed by Alex Farrar's plans, which inspire confidence in the poetic potential of the moving boxes used and his translation to graphic techniques such as screen printing and letterpress. The initial question of whether we live with moving boxes is embedded in a personal and current social question about the housing crisis, which will make the work both recognizable and personal. The committee is convinced that his playful and open attitude will lead to an interesting series of works.
